🥘 Ingredients
- Store bought marzipan - vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free. It can also be substituted with homemade marzipan made from ground almonds.
- Rose water - vegan, gluten-free, and lactose-free. Often used in Middle Eastern and Oriental cuisine to flavor desserts.
- Cocoa powder - vegan, gluten-free and lactose-free. We recommend using high-quality Criollo cocoa for the best flavor experience.
- Confectioners' sugar - Sprinkle the sugar on the cutting board. To prevent the marzipan from sticking.

🔪 Instructions
We recommend using disposable gloves here, so the sticky mass does not stick to your fingers.
Knead the marzipan paste with the rose water in a mixing bowl.
Roll out the marzipan.
Before rolling out, sprinkle some powdered sugar on a large cutting board and roll out the marzipan to a thickness of about 1.5 cm // 0.6 inches.
Then cut the marzipan into cubes of about 1.5 x 1.5 cm // 0.6 x 0.6 inch.
Cut it into cubes.
Sieve the cocoa to get a fine powder.
Sieve the cocoa into a large mixing bowl and place it within easy reach.
Place an additional strip of greaseproof paper next to the cocoa-filled mixing bowl so that you can comfortably place the finished marzipan potato there.
Take a marzipan cube and roll it between your hands to form a small ball.
Place the sticky balls in the bowl filled with raw cocoa powder.
Form small marzipan balls.
Remove the excess cocoa powder.
Roll the finished marzipan candy back and forth in a close-meshed sieve to remove the excess cocoa easily before placing it on the parchment paper strips or in the cookie jar.

You can add cinnamon to the raw cocoa powder for a more Christmassy touch. Also, very tasty!
Furthermore, try the marzipan potato variant with orange liquor (Cointreau) rolled in a dark chocolate coating! Here, the Cointreau can also be replaced by Amaretto or rum.
