🥜 Substitutions

Replace the whipped cream or milk with a lactose-free or vegan product to make this delicious drink more suited to your needs.

Cointreau substitutes

  • Curaçao

☕️ Variations

We recommend making this hot drink with whipped cream if you prefer a black Cointreau coffee.

Lightly whip the whipped cream and place a dollop of stiffly whipped cream on top of your coffee.

As a result, you no longer have a latte, but an excellent strong black coffee, enhanced with orange liqueur and a fancy whipped cream topping.

The higher fat content of the whipped cream acts as a flavor enhancer, and intensifies your coffee’s sweet orange flavor.

🙋🏻 FAQ

What is Cointreau?

Cointreau is a brand of orange liqueur made by the company of the same name. It’s based on a formula created by Adolphe Cointreau in 1875, and it’s one of the oldest liqueurs in existence. The recipe for Cointreau contains only natural ingredients, including sugar, water, alcohol and orange peel.

Can I drink Cointreau on its own?

Yes, you can. Cointreau is a high quality orange liqueur that you can drink on ice or neat.

What does Cointreau taste like?

Cointreau has a light orange flavor with notes of tangerine and vanilla on the nose. It is sweet and citrusy, with a hint of bitterness from the peel. The flavor is similar to Grand Marnier, another popular orange liqueur that was invented around the same time.

What is Cointreau often used for?

Cointreau is most often used as an ingredient in cocktails, but it can also be drunk on the rocks or with soda water as a long drink. The taste of Cointreau is similar to that of Triple Sec, with a slightly more bitter flavor.
