🔪 Instructions

Step 1

Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice from one half.

If you wish, you can squeeze the second half separately.

You can decorate the rim of the glass with lemon juice and black sanding sugar . The black sanding sugar gives a spooky look-and-feel and sparkles beautifully.

Our Snowball Cocktail with Bitter Lemon is an excellent example of this. Instead of black sanding sugar, we prepared it with raw cane sugar.

Step 2

Now you need your cocktail shaker. Fill your Shaker with ice. A handful of ice cubes is ideal. Pour vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and lime juice over the ice, one after the other.

Step 3

Close the shaker and shake the cocktail well.

To serve the cocktail without lemon strands, strain it through a fine sieve (julep strainer).

Pour the finished drink into the prepared cocktail glass. Ideally, use a chilled glass. This way the cocktail stays cold longer.

Eerily decorate your Halloween themed cocktail and serve it ice-cold.

💭 Top tip

How to chill a cocktail glass properly?

The most efficient way to get perfectly chilled glasses is to put them in the freezer before putting the cold drink in.

A further method is to chill the cocktail glass with ice cubes. Fill a cocktail glass to the brim with crushed ice. In the meantime, prepare the cocktail. Remove the ice from the glass. Pour the chilled drink into it.

I can’t wait to make this for my friends! I know they’d love it but I only have regular vodka. Can I sub that? Should I add vanilla extract?

    1. Thank you, Marcellina! This cocktail can also be prepared with regular vodka. If you don’t want to miss the hint of vanilla, you can also make your own vanilla vodka at home by putting regular vodka in a separate bottle and infusing it with a vanilla bean.

Vanilla extract is very intense. If you are making this cocktail for a crowd, you can add a drop of vanilla extract. For small quantities, I wouldn’t recommend it.

My husband and I love this drink on Halloween, while the kids are walking around trick or treating. We also like a small squeeze of lime juice along with the lemon juice. Delicious!
