This red Halloween cocktail is one of my favorite easy party drinks because it looks dramatic and festive while using only a handful of ingredients.

The deep red color makes it perfect for Halloween gatherings, and the combination of vanilla vodka, cranberry juice, Cointreau, and fresh lemon juice creates a balanced cocktail that is both refreshing and easy to enjoy. It is a simple recipe that comes together quickly and always looks impressive when served in a martini glass.

🔪 How to Make a Red Halloween Cocktail with Vanilla Vodka

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the vanilla vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice, and fresh lemon juice. Shake well until the outside of the shaker feels properly cold.

If you like, chill your martini glass beforehand and decorate the rim with black sanding sugar by rubbing a lemon wedge around the edge and dipping it into the sugar.

Strain the cocktail into the prepared martini glass. For a spooky Halloween touch, place a plastic spider on top of the glass as decoration, just like in the photos. Serve immediately while the drink is icy cold.

Tips & Tricks

  • USE LEMON, NOT LIME. This cocktail is made with fresh lemon juice, which gives it a bright and clean citrus flavor that works especially well with cranberry and vanilla vodka.
  • ADJUST THE TARTNESS. If your cranberry juice is very tart, the drink may taste sharper. For a softer cocktail, use a sweeter cranberry juice drink instead of unsweetened cranberry juice.
  • CHILL THE GLASS. For an extra-refreshing cocktail, place your martini glass in the freezer for 10–15 minutes before serving.
  • ADD SIMPLE HALLOWEEN TOUCHES. A festive cocktail napkin, a few plastic spiders placed around the serving area, or a themed straw can make the drink feel Halloween-ready without much effort.

Batch Version for Halloween Parties!

If you are serving guests, this red Halloween cocktail is very easy to batch ahead of time.

For 6 Cocktails
10 oz (30 cl / 300 ml) vanilla vodka
6 oz (18 cl / 180 ml) Cointreau
6 oz (18 cl / 180 ml) cranberry juice
6 oz (18 cl / 180 ml) fresh lemon juice

Mix everything in a pitcher or bottle and refrigerate until ready to serve.
To serve, pour about 4 oz (12 cl / 120 ml) into a cocktail shaker with ice, shake well, and strain into a martini glass.

Softer Party Version
If you prefer a slightly softer and less tart cocktail, use:
10 oz (30 cl / 300 ml) vanilla vodka
6 oz (18 cl / 180 ml) Cointreau
9 oz (27 cl / 270 ml) cranberry juice
3 oz (9 cl / 90 ml) fresh lemon juice
This version is a little easier to sip for guests who prefer sweeter Halloween cocktails.
