This refreshing twist on the classic Prosecco Cosmo skips the vodka and goes straight for a delightful blend of flavors.

Gorgeous wineglass filled with delicious layered Prosecco cosmo. Garnished with a rosemary twig, an orange slice, and red and black currants.

The crisp, citrusy notes of Cointreau mingle beautifully with the tangy burst of lime juice and the subtle sweetness of cranberry juice.

All of this is topped off with a splash of bubbly Prosecco, creating a gorgeous layered look—deep reds pooling at the bottom, fading to a light, crisp white at the top, thanks to the Prosecco and the cubed ice.

Garnished with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of orange, this cocktail is as stunning to look at as it is to drink. A wonderfully light and fruity cocktail that invites you to savor every moment and pour yourself another.

🥘 Ingredients

  • Cranberry juice — Known for its vibrant color and tart flavor, cranberry juice adds a refreshing zing to any cocktail.
  • Cointreau or Triple Sec — While both are orange liqueurs, Cointreau and Triple Sec have distinct differences. Cointreau is a premium French liqueur with a smoother, more refined flavor and a higher alcohol content. In contrast, Triple Sec is a more straightforward, sweet liqueur that brings a bold orange flavor to the mix. Either can be used to add a bright, citrusy note to your cocktail.
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Prosecco — This Italian sparkling wine hails from the village of Prosecco and carries the prestigious “controlled designation of origin” (D.O.C.). This certification ensures that only white sparkling wines from certain regions in Italy can be labeled as Prosecco, preserving the wine’s quality and rich heritage.
  • Frozen cranberries — These not only make a stunning garnish but also form the first layer in the glass, adding a pop of color and a burst of cool, tart flavor as they slowly melt.
  • Cubed ice — to fill up the glass.
  • Garnish — A sprig of rosemary and a slice of orange add a beautiful aromatic touch.

Adding Currants to Your Prosecco Cosmo

These little berries introduce a tart, slightly sweet flavor that complements the cocktail’s citrus notes perfectly.

Plus, their vibrant colors create a stunning visual contrast, and their subtle texture adds an extra layer of fun to each sip.

Building your Drink

A traditional Cosmopolitan cocktail is typically shaken in a cocktail shaker to blend its flavors thoroughly. However, this version incorporates Prosecco, a sparkling wine.

And here’s the thing—you don’t want to shake a bubbly drink because, well, the bubbles! Shaking would cause it to lose its fizz and create quite a mess.

Instead, this cocktail is a “built” drink, meaning it’s prepared directly in the serving glass.

By layering each ingredient without stirring, you achieve those stunning visual layers that make the drink so appealing. Of course, if you prefer a more uniform flavor, you can give it a gentle stir at the end to mix everything together.

I LOVE this cocktail so much! It’s refreshing enough for the summer, but the flavors are perfect for fall and winter, too.
