🥘 Ingredients

Inredients for making a whiskey sidecar - Whiskey, Cointreau, Lemon Juice.
  • Whiskey: You can really have fun playing with the flavor of the spirits in this drink. You can choose a bold and attention-grabbing whiskey or something more mellow. If you’re not sure where to start, try something everyone loves like a classic Irish Whiskey. Dewars and Jameson both make great traditional whiskeys that taste wonderful in this recipe.
  • Cointreau: This is the classic choice for its orange flavor and color, but you can also use triple sec to serve the citrus.
  • Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon always tastes the best! Remember to squeeze over a strainer so no lemon seeds get in the juice.
  • Ice Cubes
  • Lemon Twist: If you need practice making twists, check out my easy method for making lemons twists!
  • Superfine Sugar and Edible Blue Glitter: These two ingredients mix up into the most delicious and eye-catching decoration for the rim of this beautiful beverage.

🤔 What is a Sidecar Drink?

A sidecar is a traditional cocktail recipe made with cognac, orange liqueur, and lemon. It is known for its gorgeous golden hue and delicious sweet, tart, and smooth flavor.

This recipe plays with the classic flavors just a little by trading cognac for your favorite whiskey; however, if you’re a traditionalist, feel free to stick to cognac!

🙋🏻 FAQ

Can I Batch This Recipe?

Yes, you can batch the sidecar recipe. Try making this yummy drink in a pitcher or stirring glass. The larger vessel should allow you to double the batch easily, but you will have to stir well instead of shaking.

What’s the difference between Scotch Whisky and Whiskey?

There is a slight difference between the two — and not just the spelling! Scotch Whisky is made and bottled entirely in Scotland. Whiskey with an “e” is made everywhere else.
