🔪 Instructions
The first thing you'll want to do is add some ice cubes to your wine glass.
Next, squeeze the juice of half a lemon into your wine glass — you can do this with a lemon squeezer. If you don't have one, you can squeeze it over a fine mesh sieve to avoid getting seeds in the glass.
After you've successfully squeezed all the juice from half of a lemon, go ahead and add the soda water, followed by your dry white wine of choice.
Personally, I prefer Grüner Veltliner but Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Chien Blanc, or Vermontino, also work nicely.
Last but not least, add in your homemade strawberry syrup.
The order should be respected here because the ingredient you add last gives the predominant flavor.
At first glance, this doesn't really look like a strawberry spritz because the combination of lemon juice and strawberry syrup results in an incredibly beautiful orange color. If you add in the strawberry syrup last, as instructed, you'll get this delicious fruity twist you want to achieve!
🍋 Substitutions
The lemon juice can be replaced with fresh lime juice for a slightly more tart flavor.
🍷 Variations
When it comes to white wine variations for the strawberry spritz cocktail, you'll want to make selections with a similar profile to Grüner Veltliner.
One of the key elements that makes this cocktail so deliciously refreshing is that it's paired with a dry wine! If you're looking for variations, I'd recommend Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Chien Blanc or Vermontino – just to name a few!
These few suggestions are in no way exhaustive, and if you're looking for more options, ask the friendly staff at your local wine shop!
The taste of this spritz drink can also easily be varied by playing around with the other ingredients. By adding more strawberry syrup, the strawberry spritzer becomes sweeter. If you add more lemon, your spritz will be a little bit more on the sour end.
I used the juice of half a lemon in this recipe — which is quite a lot — so I wouldn't recommend using more than half a lemon! This recipe is definitely a bit sour but at the same time, refreshing. The perfect summer cocktail!

🌡 Storage & Tips
This recipe makes the perfect amount for one – so you probably won't be leftover with any strawberry spritz for long! There are a few really key pieces of advice you need to keep in mind while preparing this refreshing beverage, though;
- Do NOT to use sweet wine with this drink.
- NOT to use tap water or still mineral water! You'll need the bubbles from the club soda to make this drink refreshing.
- The order should be respected here because the ingredient you add last gives the predominant flavor.
- If you want to prepare larger quantities, we recommend mixing the individual ingredients together in a large pitcher.
