🥘 Ingredients

Ingredients for making a Martinez - orange bitters, sweet vermouth, gin, maraschino liqueur.
  • Cubed Ice: Keep your cocktail cold with fresh ice. Use large cubes to avoid making your drink too watery too quickly.
  • Orange Bitters: This aromatic ingredient adds loads of sweet citrus flavor and aroma to this smooth and sippable drink.
  • Sweet Vermouth: Sweet vermouth brings a lovely, light, and fruity taste to this bright beverage.
  • Gin: I love to use Plymouth Gin for its traditional smooth and spirited flavor; however, you can choose your favorite variety of gin to make this fresh sip!
  • Maraschino Liqueur: This sweet cherry liqueur has a brilliant sweet and fruity flavor.
  • Lemon Zest: Choose a bright, fresh lemon so you get the most beautiful zest.

🥂 Variations

Low-Alcohol: To make a lovely light version of this drink with less alcohol, use less gin and more vermouth.

🍽 Equipment

  • Measuring Tools
  • Stirring Glass
  • Barspoon
  • Nick & Nora Glass: This iconic stemmed glass looked like a petite wine glass. If you do not have a set of Nick & Nora’s, use your favorite white wine glasses.
  • Strainer: I love the Julep strainer for this drink, or a Hawthorne strainer works very well.

💭 Top tips

One trick to home bar success is not watering down the drinks too much! Help avoid this by stirring the drink just right!

Keep the stirring spoon on the outside of the ice, between the ice and glass wall, and stir gently to keep all the ice in the center. This will cool the drink without causing excessive ice melt.

🙋🏻 FAQ

What To Pair With A Martinez Cocktail?

This sweet, tart, and fruity cocktail is always a fantastic and fresh treat, but matching it up with the best foods makes it really pop! This drink’s fresh notes pair well with sweet and savory snacks. Try a Martinez with cucumber sandwiches or lemon cookies at your next shower or lunch.

Can I Use Flavored Gin?

One of the things I love about this drink is the bracing yet smooth combination of Plymouth gin and vermouth, but if you want to twist this cocktail into your own creation, botanical and fruit-infused gins are both great options.
