If you love a nice, simple glass of white wine in the evenings but want something a little more refreshing during the hottest days of the year, you'll love this white wine spritzer recipe!
It's no-frills compared to some of my other spritzer recipes – like this strawberry spritz or even this lavender spritz – but it'll hit the spot!
It's simple and delicious – literally just calling for two simple ingredients. It's best with lighter-bodied, dry white wines, which give this spritzer a wonderfully crisp, tart flavor! If you're looking for the perfect, refreshing drink to enjoy on hot summer days, this is it!

🔪 Instructions
This is one of the easiest and best summer drinks out there!
This White Wine spritzer only calls for two ingredients: White wine and mineral water.
You'll need to keep two crucial things in mind, though. The first is quantity ratio – for every one part of wine, you'll need three parts water.
The second thing you'll need to remember is the order of the ingredients! Add in your mineral water first, followed by the dry, light-bodied wine of your choice – in order to help preserve the wine's excellent taste.
I recommend breaking out your wine glasses because when you go to serve yourself, you'll end up with the perfect mix.
This version of the white wine spritzer should not have any additions. Adding ice cubes would dilute the drink, and adding fresh fruit could spoil the good white wine taste, so neither is necessary or recommended here.
🍷 Variations
When it comes to selecting the best wine for this recipe, you have lots of options! It's best to use a dry, light-bodied type of wine.
If you're looking for a light, zesty white wine, you can use any of the following recommendations;
- Pinot Grigio
- Pinot Blanc
- Grenache Blanc
- Muscadel
- Sauvignon Vert/Friulano
If you like herbaceous white wines that offer more of a "green" herbal profile, with notes like freshly cut grass or herbs like rosemary, sage, and thyme, try using;
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Grüner Ventiler – The favorite white wine in Austria!
- Vermentino
These suggestions are not an exhaustive list of your options, so if you're still looking for more options or suggestions, ask the friendly staff at your local wine shop!

🌡 Storage & Top Tips
In the unlikely event of leftovers, there are a few important things to keep in mind! First and foremost, whenever you uncork a bottle of white wine, you should always finish it off within three to five days. Since you can't precisely re-cork the wine you'll use for this spritzer, I recommend finishing it even sooner!
Another thing to keep in mind is you don't want your mineral water to go flat! Even if you're keeping it nice and cold in the fridge, your mineral water will probably be flat within two to three days after it's been opened.
When you're preparing this simple and refreshing cocktail, a few details are so important that they're worth repeating. Keep these two things in mind when preparing your summer treat;
- Quantity Ratio – You'll need three parts mineral water for every one part wine.
- Order – add in your mineral water first, so you don't miss out on the delicious flavors and notes of your white wine
You don't want to ruin the flavor or dilute the cocktail, either, so don't add in any ice or fresh fruit to your spritz.

🙋🏻 FAQ
When making a white wine spritz, it's really important to use a light-bodied, dry white wine! More than a few wines meet that profile, so the rest really comes down to personal taste and preferences! Do you love a herbaceous white wine like Sauvignon Blanc? Or do you prefer a little zesty white wine and a Pinot Grigio? The best way to figure that out is to sample all your options!
A white wine spritzer is made from one part white wine (dry & light bodied is best!) and three parts mineral water/ sparkling water/soda water / tonic water/club soda!
If you're looking to add a little pizzazz to your white wine, try adding a splash or "spritz" of mineral water! People have been adding sparkling water, soda water, club soda, and tonic water to their white wine for hundreds of years, so you know it's got to be good!
