🥘 Ingredients

Ingredients Raspberry Gin and Tonic: cubed ice, lime, tonic, raspberry syrup, Plymouth sloe gin.
  • Sloe Gin: This British red gin made from blackthorn fruit adds a sweet, fruity aroma with a hint of bitterness, providing a unique twist to your cocktail.
  • Raspberry Syrup: For a fresh taste, opt for homemade raspberry syrup. I offer two versions: one cooked on the stove and one that requires no cooking at all. For convenience, store-bought syrup is also an option.
  • Tonic: Choose a high-quality tonic to balance the flavors and enhance the overall drink experience.
  • Cubed Ice: Use plenty of cubed ice to keep your cocktail refreshingly cold.

See the recipe card for quantities.

👍 Best Glass for Gin and Tonic: Highball

The highball glass is the vessel of choice for many cocktails, but it’s particularly great for gin and tonics. Its tall, thin shape helps preserve the bubbles in your carbonated drinks for longer, ensuring your cocktail stays fizzy and refreshing.

🤔 What is a “Built” Cocktail

A “built” cocktail is a type of mixed drink that is made directly in the glass in which it will be served, rather than being shaken or stirred in a separate container first.

Ingredients are typically poured one by one over ice, allowing them to mix naturally within the glass.

This method is simple and convenient, making it popular for straightforward cocktails like gin and tonics, where maintaining the carbonation and distinct layers of flavors is important.

💕 Delightful Pairing

Here are a few delightful dessert pairings from my blog that will complement your raspberry gin and tonic perfectly:

  • No-Bake Chocolate Ricotta Cheesecake: This rich and creamy cheesecake offers a decadent chocolate flavor with a smooth ricotta texture, making it an excellent match for the fruity and slightly bitter notes of this cocktail.
  • No-Bake Lemon Cheesecake with Blueberry Sauce: The zesty lemon and sweet blueberry sauce provide a refreshing contrast that pairs wonderfully with the raspberry and sloe gin flavors.
  • Valentine’s Raspberry Cheesecake (No-Bake): Enhance the raspberry theme with this luscious no-bake cheesecake, bursting with sweet raspberry flavor and a creamy texture.
  • White Chocolate Pudding: A luxurious dessert with the smoothness of white chocolate that will beautifully complement the fruity and floral notes of your gin and tonic.
  • Strawberry Cupcakes with Ricotta: These light and fluffy cupcakes, topped with fresh strawberry buttercream, offer a delightful balance of sweetness that pairs well with the vibrant flavors of the cocktail.

💭 Top Tips for Perfect Gin and Tonic Cocktails

When preparing your gin and tonic cocktails at home, hold your highball glasses at the bottom to keep them cool and avoid touching the rim. This helps maintain the chilled temperature, enhancing the cocktail’s taste.

To properly chill a glass, place it in the freezer for at least half an hour. For larger gatherings, chill them overnight. If short on time or freezer space, fill the glass with ice cubes, then discard the ice before building your drink.

For environmental reasons, opt for metal or paper straws instead of disposable ones, or skip the straw altogether.
