🥘 Ingredients
- Light Rum: Light rum has the perfect kick and mellow finish for this flirty fruit cocktail. You can use your favorite brand, but Bacardi is a great standby.
- Fresh Lime Juice: You will want to pick out fresh limes for juicing. Look for bright green skin and a nice firm texture.
- Raspberry Syrup: Raspberry syrup is very popular in cocktail and mocktail making, so it is easy to find this tasty flavor syrup in stores everywhere. However, if you’re all about homemade, you can absolutely use scratch-made raspberry syrup to sweeten up this delicious daiquiri!
- Cubed Ice: For cooling the drink while shaking.
See the recipe card for quantities.
🔪 Instructions
Step One: Juice the limes.
Step Two: Fill the shaker with ice and then add the rum, lime juice, and raspberry syrup.
Step Three: Shake!
Step Four: Strain the drink directly into your favorite daiquiri glass and enjoy!
🍽 Equipment
- Cocktail Shaker
- Small Fine Strainer: This is essential for pouring the perfect beverage. Choose a small fine-mesh strainer to hold back any ice fragments after shaking.
- Jigger
- Cutting Board and Kitchen Knife: For cutting limes. Remember to wash your knife promptly after cutting citrus to avoid dulling the blade.
- Lemon Squeezer
- Cocktail Glass: This special touch is up to you! I like a classic Nick and Nora or Coupe-style glass, but you can also opt for a rocks glass or whatever you like!
💭 Top tips
The daiquiri is served strained, straight up, meaning without ice. I love using this method because shaking cools the cocktail perfectly while straining holds back all the ice. You are left with a sensually smooth and sippable texture.
This drink is so delicious to behold that I didn’t want to mess it up with a clunky garnish, but if you want to add a little flair to your glass, go for it! Fresh raspberries on a cocktail skewer make a lovely topper for this tasty sip!
🙋🏻 FAQ
If you want to add a deeper flavor to the cocktail, you can try swapping the light rum for dark rum. This trade makes for a more complex and noticeable rum note.
Spiced rum can also be used, but beware that the spicy flavor might overwhelm some of the light, fresh, and floral notes of raspberry in the original recipe.

Never thought of mixing rum with raspberry. So glad you did! Another fun summernight drink I really enjoyed.
Out of curiosity, since you clearly know your cocktails: What what you make with a spiced rum like Black Kraken? I recently got a bottle as it intrigued me, but am not the biggest fan of it in it's own.
Nora says
Thank you so much, Sonja!
About the Black Kraken: This spiced rum boasts flavors of vanilla, cinnamon, and cloves. Some also detect notes of licorice, but I find it less intense. I enjoy using it for Mexican coffee.
But it also pairs well with cola or ginger beer, known as the perfect storm.
A delicious drink that I unfortunately haven't tried myself yet is the Black Kraken Daiquiri with mango. I imagine the flavor combo with orange liqueur, lime, and mango to be super delicious!

Thanks so much for all the ideas. I actually have mango and orange liqueur at home. Might try that one. 🙂

Wohoo! Awesome! Let me know how it turned out! 🙂
