Do you give your loved ones an Advent calendar? A wonderful tradition, isn't it? Oh, you don't? Hmm, maybe you would like to try out this tradition? Because not only children enjoy such a calendar, so do adults!
Oh, you're single? No hindrance either! You can buy yourself a ready-made Advent calendar and make yourself a surprise and joy in Advent! I think that sounds wonderful!
In my last article about DIY Advent calendars for grownups, I talked about crafting Advent calendars. But if you are not the crafting type, have little time, or want to surprise yourself, a pre-made Advent calendar is just the thing!
😍 I am such a fan!
Opening little surprises every day during Advent brings back beautiful memories for me. During my childhood, I always had an Advent calendar in various forms.
And also, during my adult life so far, I have delighted myself with one. I have been lucky that all my former spouses and my husband have been "Christmas friendly" and have continued this tradition.
So, How Do I Start This Awesome Tradition?
Fortunately, this is relatively easy. Whether it should be a calendar for you, your boyfriend, your girlfriend makes relatively little difference. Try to find a calendar that meets the tastes of the person you want to give it to. Try to order the Advent calendar in time (most are already available in the fall). Nothing more stupid than if it arrives after the first of December. It is effortless to do this if it is a ready-made Advent calendar, which contains perishable foods.

Danish Calendar Candle
Do you know the Danish calendar candle?
On the first of December, the calendar candle will be lit for the first time and will continue to burn down day after day. The remaining numbers on the candle show you the remaining days until Christmas. There is hardly a household in Denmark that does not have at least one such candle. Modern candle in Danish design. The numbers from 1 to 24 can be seen on the branches. So you can read the rest of the days until Christmas

I can still remember when I had such a Danish Advent candle as a child. It was so lovely, together with the family, to burn a little piece of it every day. Today, I still get me (although not every year, but now and then) such a candle as a gift for myself. And it still awakens beautiful memories, which I can pass on to my little daughter as well. 🙂

🙋🏻 FAQ
What is an Advent Calendar and Where Does It Originate From?
The advent calendar is an opportunity to celebrate the exciting countdown to the holiday by bringing even more festivity throughout the month of December.
This tradition goes all the way back tot he 19th century! German protestants used to mark their doors with chalk counting the days until Christmas and slowly this tradition morphed into what it is today. Like many other customs, it started spreading to other countries and it became a ritual even for those who are not religious.

Either is fine. Some count down just until Christmas Eve as the last day before Christmas, while others have a final countdown for the 25th of December too. It's up to you what you prefer to do.
