Barista Tips

  • When brewing coffee, always use filtered water. Unfiltered water can calcify your brewing equipment and give your favorite coffee a funky taste. So opt for filtered whenever possible.
  • There isn’t a fixed ratio for cold brew, but a typical recommendation falls between 1 to 6 and 1 to 10.
  • For optimal extraction, adjust the grind coarser as the brewing time extends. Cold brew requires an even coarser grind than French press to prevent over-extraction. Grind coffee just before brewing to preserve its aroma and flavor. For a Comandante grinder, set it between 35-40 clicks (70-80 red clicks).
