Heart-Shaped Chocolate Vanilla Pudding Cake
I first made this heart-shaped chocolate vanilla pudding cake for Valentine's Day a few years ago, during a season when work was especially busy and time felt short. I wanted something homemade, something that still felt thoughtful, but that did not ask much of me at the end of a long day. That is how this cake came to be. One bowl, quick to mix, simple to bake, and quietly special.
Looking for a Valentine's dessert that feels meaningful without feeling rushed?

The batter comes together easily, with warm vanilla pudding folded in for softness and comfort. It bakes into a tender, chocolatey cake that feels intentional rather than elaborate. That first Valentine's evening, we shared it simply, with a dollop of flavored whipped cream and a glass of Shiraz, my favorite red wine. Nothing fancy, just a small moment made sweet.
If you are planning a February celebration, you might enjoy browsing my Valentine's Day recipes. For desserts meant for two, my Strawberry Cobbler for Two is another favorite. And if you are drawn to something a little more classic, my Raspberry Cheesecake or Peach Melba pair beautifully with a quiet evening at home.
This is the kind of recipe I still return to when life is full and time is limited. It asks very little, delivers generously, and reminds me that celebration does not have to be complicated to feel real.

❤️ You will have a little vanilla pudding left after making the cake. I usually spoon it into a small jar and keep it in the fridge for the next day. It is lovely with a handful of berries, a swirl of whipped cream, or simply enjoyed on its own as a quiet treat. A small extra, already made, and nothing goes to waste. ❤️
