Vodka, dried lavender and time are required for making homemade lavender extract.

Step 1: You’ll combine dried lavender and vodka in a glass mason jar and close it tightly before giving it a good shake. 

Add the dried lavender to the mason jar.
Fill in the vodka.

Step 2: Leave it in a cool and dry spot for at least a week (though two weeks is ideal) while shaking it once daily.

Step 3: After two weeks, open the jar and strain the infused vodka through a fine sieve. Press out any liquid kept in the soaked lavender before discarding it.

When you make it at home, using a culinary-grade lavender is important. If you plan to forgo the culinary lavender and use lavender from your garden, you must clip sprigs of the vibrant blue-purple color instead of grayish-purple. 

For this recipe, you’ll need to dry those fresh lavender buds, so hang the bundles in a dark, warm spot for roughly 10 days.

  • In a mason jar, pour in 2,7 oz Vodka and 2 tbsp Dried lavender.
