Now let’s talk about this bark. I adore the combination of caramel popcorn, salty pretzels, and rich dark chocolate. It’s that magical balance of sweet and salty that keeps you coming back for just one more piece.

The best part?

You only need a few ingredients, a single tray, and about ten minutes of effort. Whether you’re wrapping it up as a homemade gift or keeping it all to yourself for cozy movie nights, this bark never disappoints.

So grab your popcorn (literally), break out the chocolate, and let’s make something sweet, simple, and absolutely divine together.

🔪 Instructions

Step 1 – Prepare your tray:

Line a 35 x 23 cm (13.8 x 9 inch) baking tray with parchment paper. Make sure it fits flat and smooth so your chocolate bark sets evenly later.

Step 2 – Melt the chocolate:

Place your chopped dark and milk chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Melt it slowly over a pot of simmering water, stirring gently until silky and smooth. You can also use the microwave — just heat it in short bursts of 20 seconds, stirring in between, until perfectly melted.

Step 3 – Spread the chocolate:

Pour the melted chocolate onto your prepared tray and spread it into an even layer, about ½ cm thick. You can leave a little border if you prefer thicker bark.

Spread the melted chocolate in the pan lined with parchment paper.

Step 4 – Add the toppings:

While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle on the caramel popcorn and pretzel pieces. Press them in very lightly so they stick but don’t sink.

Sprinkle the crushed caramel popcorn and pretzels over the melted chocolate.

Step 5 – Optional white chocolate drizzle:

If you want to get a little artsy, melt your white chocolate and drizzle it over the top in a zigzag pattern. It looks beautiful and adds a lovely touch of sweetness.

Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the chilled popcorn bark.

Step 6 – Add a sprinkle of salt:

If you’re using flaky sea salt, now’s the time to add it. A light sprinkle gives your bark that irresistible sweet and salty flavor.

Sprinkle a bit of flaky sea salt on top.

Step 7 – Chill until set:

Place your tray in the fridge for 20 to 30 minutes until the chocolate has fully set and hardened.

Step 8 – Break and enjoy:

Once set, remove from the fridge and break your bark into delicious shards. Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week — if they last that long!

Break the finished chocolate bark into convenient, hand-held pieces.

🌡️ Storage

Store your chocolate bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. If your kitchen is warm or you notice the chocolate softening, place it in the fridge to keep it firm and fresh.
For gifting, wrap the bark pieces in parchment or cellophane bags and tie them with a ribbon. They will stay beautiful for several days and make such a thoughtful homemade treat
