3 tablespoon Granulated sugar, 2 teaspoon Vanilla sugar
  • Brush the dough rolls with water and sprinkle with some of the sugar mixture.
  • Cut into finger-thick slices using a kitchen twine.
  • Place the cut slices on the baking tray and press the bottom edge together to create a heart shape.
  • Sprinkle the cut hearts with the remaining vanilla sugar mixture and bake until golden brown (10-12 minutes).
  • Remove from the oven, leave to cool and then transfer to a cooling rack until completely cooled. This doesn't take long (approx. 5 minutes).
  • Store the puff pastry hearts in an airtight container.

Notes

How to cut with a Kitchen Twine
To cut puff pastry dough with kitchen twine, ensure the dough is tightly rolled to prevent jam leakage. Slide the kitchen twine under the rolled dough and gently pull it taut. Swiftly pull the twine through the dough to create clean slices without pressing too hard and risking deformation.
