Learn how to make a smooth, café-style vanilla latte at home using espresso or strong brewed coffee. This easy vanilla latte recipe includes milk steaming tips, vanilla variations, and simple barista techniques for home brewers.
Pull 1 shot Espresso. If you don’t have an espresso machine, brew 30 ml | 1 oz strong coffee using a moka pot, AeroPress, French press, or concentrated drip method.
1 shot Espresso
Stir 2-3 tsp Vanilla syrup into the hot espresso or coffee until fully dissolved.
2-3 tsp Vanilla syrup
Heat and steam ¾ cup Milk to 55 to 60°C | 130 to 140°F until silky and smooth. If you don’t have a steam wand, froth warm milk using a French press or handheld frother.
¾ cup Milk
Pour the steamed milk slowly into the espresso, holding back foam at first. Finish with a thin layer of microfoam on top or pour a gorgeous latte art heart.
Enjoy immediately while warm and creamy.
Notes
Start with less vanilla syrup and adjust to taste. Medium roast espresso beans create a balanced vanilla flavor. Vanilla bean paste adds depth, while vanilla extract creates a lighter sweetness.
