Homemade Sacher Cake

Dough Butter - soft – Dark Chocolate Fine granulated sugar Salt Eggs Flour – Optional: Vanilla bean Filling Apricot jam sieved Chocolate Glaze Chocolate glaze  Whipped cream

Step 1

Combine the softened butter, melted chocolate, granulated sugar, egg yolks, and a pinch of salt.

Step 2

Separately, whip up the egg whites with granulated sugar until stiff.

Step 3

Fold the very stiffly whipped egg whites into the cake batter. And add the flour at the end.

Step 4

Add the cake batter to a springform pan.

Step 5

Bake for 15 minutes with the oven door slightly open.

Step 6

Close the door of your oven and continue baking for 60 minutes.

Step 7

Turn the cake out onto a cake rack and let it cool-

Step 8

Cut the cake into halves and spread it with apricot jam.

Step 9

Create a simple chocolate icing.

Step 10

Spread the warm chocolate glaze on the top of the cake first.

Step 11

Then cover the entire cake in this gorgeous dark chocolate icing.

Step 12

Serve a piece of Sachertorte with a large dollop of unsweetened, stiffly whipped cream, and enjoy with a cup of coffee.
